Last Epoch: Checking In

Things are looking better, but it’s easy to miss because, well, there are still issues. The progress EHG is making should be noted, however, and it should be pointed out that Last Epoch’s services are improving.

Launch vs Now

Remember launch day when EHG stated that 150k CCU (concurrent users) was causing infrastructure to buckle? Here’s an excerpt from an update which Judd (EHG) posted to Discord on launch day:

11:46AM CST: 150k CCU and the initial burst of volume has our matchmaking services experiencing some issues that we’re quickly working to rectify. We’re in the war room with our backend team and service providers turning all the dials and knobs as quickly as we can.

The main point here is that on launch day 150k CCU broke things.

Compare that with today:

So we’ve hit a peak of 258k CCU, and things are generally working. Yes, we still have delayed loading, and we still do have issues. However, let’s just stop and appreciate the fact that things are most certainly better than they were. Last Epoch’s services are improving, there is no disputing that.

EHG Are Working ‘Round The Clock

We’ve seen updates pouring in, with what can only be called stellar communication from EHG. Furthermore, they’ve worked all weekend long, sacrificing time with their families to help improve our ability to play Last Epoch.

I’m sure this seems like a shill post, and frankly maybe it is. However, I’m rooting for EHG. They’ve kept up on communication, and they’ve stuck to the issues — working tirelessly to rectify load times and instability. The last time I saw a studio care so deeply was, well, I don’t remember when.

I’ll keep posting on the topic as I am emotionally invested, and as previously stated, I’m rooting for EHG. This is one of the best games I’ve ever played, and Last Epoch will go down in history as a staple in the ARPG genre.
